sparklers. Just heard him announcing hot rail and 40mph at St Lucie. Rather short for 101 but

the window to my sparklers. Rock, tubs, rock, tubs, rock and tubs in three segments, IM, 1 lonely
UPS, work cars, freight, racks of 25 & 36 tanks with two box cars on the rear. Heard dispatcher
tell Mark that 101 at mp155 and looking at ATCS meet will be Micco. With two long trains guess
the best spot but 202 having to wait awhile.

Fellsmere Elementary Kindergarten April 24, 2015




In conjunction with the Indian River County Historical Society, the School Board of Fellsmere,
FL invited cabooseMikey to address six kindergarten classes on Friday April 24, 2015.


It was a field trip for the students as they walked across North Cypress Street to the Marian
Fell Library which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this week.


Each student received a plastic token outside the door with which they purchased a ticket
validated by antique dater from the station master. They then took seats on our imaginary train
car and conductor cabooseMikey punched each ticket. An interactive discussion of signaling (up
and down means go forward, who knows what red means?) followed; and then the most
important part: a SAFETY lesson. All the children promised cabooseMikey that they would always
stay back a safe distance from the tracks!


Show-and-tell was very popular as the children were allowed to touch the railroad artifacts
including spikes, lock and key, rail section, and a brake handle. All including the teachers were
fascinated that the scent of kerosene was still in the Adlake lantern.


Teachers Aide Connie Ward read a story about 'the little engine who could' to some of the
groups and others sang the song 'the wheels on the train (go round and round)' before leaving.


Happy children filed out of the little library, none happier than cabooseMikey himself.


If it keeps just one child from making a mistake on the railroad tracks ...

101 by mp236 @ 6:03 with 820 & 819.  Aaron with nice toots and the Great ECH flapping his neon green vest from the tread just like a pairie chicken.  Short train for 101 with all IM, including a Tiger Cool Express, lots of FEC blue containers, Raven's, 3 Ashley's in a row with two others spaced out towards the bottom. Must be planning on one heck of a sale. Forgot to mention that just before 202 reached us, a gorgeous Bald eagle flew by north bound with a fish in tow. Looks like he landed in the closest sanctuary where we hear the crossing bells and can see the block signal. Just another plus for our new digs. Can not get in fast enough!

Going by at a turtle pace towards Gifford to meet 101.  Lots of rock and tubs up front, IM with a double Seaco tanks hidden under a stack. FEC blue containers, some empty wells, no freight and a long string of racks with a P&W just for Noel. Took over 8 minutes to go by our Caboose Junction South. Instead of going by slow and waiting in Gifford, they should have stopped at the Junction and then sped towards Gifford!  BTW, the first rack was a BNSF pumpkin.
